Mission isn’t a program or an optional extra, it begins in the very heart of God.
From the opening chapters of Genesis, we see a God who creates out of love and pursues humanity even in our rebellion. God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis sets the trajectory for the entire biblical story. This promise is fulfilled in Jesus, who brings hope and salvation not just to individuals, but to every tribe, tongue, and nation.
God is on a mission to redeem and restore.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:19–20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Jesus didn’t leave His followers with vague instructions. Before ascending to heaven, He gave them this clear compelling command.
This is not a side task for a select few - it is the defining mission of the Church. We are sent, just as Jesus was sent (John 20:21), to make disciples who know Him, follow Him, and invite others to do the same.
The Great Commission flows from the heart of Jesus. It’s His invitation for us to participate in His work of redemption - to bring good news to the poor, hope to the lost, and life to those who’ve never heard His name.
The Bible is full of stories of people who responded to God’s leading, not because they felt ready, but because they trusted the One who sent them.
God creates humanity in His image — to know Him and reflect His glory
“All nations will be blessed through you.” Mission begins with a promise of global blessing
“Here am I. Send me.” God sends messengers to call His people — and the nations — back to Himself
“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Jesus brings salvation and sends His followers
The gospel spreads across borders, cultures, and languages — carried by everyday believers
The end of the story is worship — every nation, tribe, and tongue around the throne of God
Being a missionary is not limited to pastors or theologians - it’s an invitation for all believers willing to serve. Whether single, married, young, or retired, God uses people from all walks of life to reach the nations. He equips those He sends, providing strength, resources, and open doors to serve.
Becoming a missionary flows out of God’s heart and His mission to redeem the nations. It’s a response of faith to Jesus’ commission - a willingness to go where He leads, to cross boundaries, and to carry His name.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...” (Matthew 28:19)
To be a missionary is not to take up a title, but to take up a posture of obedience - ready to serve, ready to love, and ready to be used by God in places where the gospel has yet to be heard.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible reveals God’s plan to gather people from every nation into His Kingdom:
“Declare His glory among the nations...”(Psalm 96:3)
“How can they believe... without someone preaching to them?”(Romans 10:14–15)
“A great multitude... from every nation, tribe, people and language...”(Revelation 7:9)
Missionaries go because God’s love compels them. They see the need, sense His leading, and respond in obedience.
Mission looks different depending on the context - but the heart remains the same: making Jesus known. This work can include:
Church Planting
Evangelism & Discipleship
Bible Translation
Community Development
Serving the Persecuted Church
Support Roles - including IT, finance, logistics, and member care
Every part matters. Every gift can be used in God's mission.
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! Romans 10:15

Many wonder: Am I really the kind of person God would send? The truth is - He’s not looking for the most polished or the most prepared.
God does not call the equipped; He equips the called. When Isaiah heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” he responded, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)
At Pioneers Australia, we walk alongside those who are exploring mission. We offer training, mentoring, and support - helping ordinary people step into God’s extraordinary plans.
Not all are sent across the world, but all are invited into God’s mission. Some go. Others send, pray, give, or disciple. Together, we join in God’s work of restoration.
“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:21)
Following God is a journey of trust. If He’s stirring your heart, we invite you to take the next step with Him.
Ask God to reveal His leading. Surrender your fears, hesitations, and expectations to Him. Pray for unreached people and lift up those who are serving among them.
