Parties, sharing God, dinners…
1 Jan 2010
Parties. Dinners. Games. Writing references and job applications. Reading assignments. Sharing about God. More parties. Relationship counselling. Helping move house. Teaching English. Baking brownies. Playing cards. Teaching people to drive. Providing short-term accommodation. More parties. Picking people up from the bus station, airport or train station. More parties. Late night phone calls. Chatting on Facebook and skype. Leading Bible study groups. Talking through culture shock and homesickness. Meeting parents. Our work with university students is always varied and interesting!
Our team uses English teaching as a tool to connect with Thai university students. Many of our students are among the brightest in the country and will be the future leaders of Thailand. We incorporate Bible stories into our secular English program, and gently introduce the students to key concepts about God and the idea that they can study English using Bible stories. We then encourage students to learn more by coming to Bible class, where we pray, sing together and read and discuss stories from God’s Word. Some students also come with us to English-speaking or Thai-speaking church. As students become Christians, they have a solid foundation for growing in faith and forming their own small groups. If you are a night owl and have a passion for university students, we need more teammates!
