A Mandarin-Speaking Team at Pioneers Australia

11 Aug 2021

As we pray for more workers for the mission fields ripe for harvest, God is answering! He is raising up new workers from traditional missionary-sending countries like Australia, and from within Global South churches. This latter group of churches are in countries that were solely receiving missionaries not too long ago. God is transforming these former mission fields into missionary-sending churches. His Spirit is moving powerfully, raising missionaries for cross-cultural work among unreached peoples. Of these, the mission movement in East Asia is recognised as a significant growing mission force with great potential.

As more Mandarin-speaking cross-cultural workers are raised up, there is opportunity for more experienced mission organisations like Pioneers to partner with Chinese churches. This includes sharing resources and providing training and care for Mandarin-speaking missionaries.

In addition to the church in East Asia itself, the Christian communities in the Chinese diaspora are also responding to God’s Great Commission. Here in Australia, Pioneers recognises this and feels led to support our Chinese brothers and sisters as they engage in global mission. In Pioneers, there is a specialist team of Chinese speakers who work closely with Chinese churches to teach, train, and mobilise Chinese Australians for cross-cultural work. With team members who speak the language and belong to Chinese-speaking communities, Pioneers is better positioned to serve the Chinese church in Australia with respect to global mission.

In these VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) times, God has given Pioneers the vision to be a creative, passionate and focussed group facilitating Chinese Christians called to serve the nations – churches blessed with resources, talented and gifted members, and a heart for the lost. We are working together to answer the Great Commission call.
