This is a Tax Deductible OARF project Equip 4 Life Vocational Training School is currently based in Arua, one of the poorest districts in Uganda. Life is difficult for young people here, and many, especially girls, are not able to complete their schooling. This is mostly due to expensive school fees – parental unemployment, large families, sickness (HIV/AIDS), and/or death of one or both parents. Most young people dream about a future career, impossible without adequate schooling. This causes them to lose hope, become depressed and to engage in crime, drugs and alcohol abuse to escape their difficult realities. These are the young people the Vocational Training School aims to help. We currently run classes in Tailoring, and Baking & Catering, as well as Life Skills. We desire to see these disadvantaged young people transformed, healed, and equipped to reach their full potential. We desire to empower and support their social, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing… leading to community transformation. Impact: Most of our students are female, and many are from poor families from Uganda, South Sudan, or DR Congo. Learning these practical skills helps them to be able to make a living and contribute to their family’s livelihood. Many have been able to improve their living conditions by purchasing mattresses and mosquito nets for their children, as well as paying their children’s school fees. This has a positive effect on individual families, as well as the whole community. Invitation: Your support helps us provide Vocational & Life Skills to disadvantaged young people…equipping them to reach their full potential and transforming their communities.
